Submit Birds of a Feather session proposals for IETF 116 now
- Lars Eggert IETF Chair
21 Dec 2022
Birds of a Feather sessions (BOFs) are initial discussions about a particular topic of interest to the IETF community.
BOFs are usually held at IETF meetings, and requests to hold a BOF must be made significantly in advance of the meeting. Preliminary proposals for Birds-of-a-Feather (BOF) sessions for the upcoming IETF 116 Yokohama meeting hosted by the WIDE Project are due by 27 January 2023.
If a proposal needs further work, the Internet Engineering Steering Group (IESG) and Internet Architecture Board (IAB) will work with BOF proponents on revisions, but the initial proposal needs to be received by 27 January 2023.
Further details about BOFs, and instructions for submitting proposals via the IETF Datatracker are available.
Please also read RFC 5434, "Considerations for Having a Successful Birds-of-a-Feather Session", if you are not familiar with it.
BOFs are just one of a number of ways of bringing new work into the IETF. If you are considering a BOF request but you are unsure whether to submit it, please ask the IESG now by sending an email to iesg@ietf.org, or speak to an individual Area Director about your idea.
