IETF 113: IRTF Open
The Internet Research Task Force (IRTF) Open session, including Applied Networking Research Prize (ANRP) presentations, was held during IETF 113 at 13:30-15:30 UTC on 22 March 2022.
Sangeetha Abdu Jyothi will present on her research, “Solar superstorms: planning for an Internet apocalypse,” presented at the ACM SIGCOMM Conference in 2021. Her research looks at the potential of a so-called black swan event in which a solar superstorm could potentially cause large-scale Internet outages covering the entire globe and lasting several months.
Bruce Spang, will talk about his research with Veronica Hannan, Shravya Kunamalla, Te-Yuan Huang, Nick McKeown, and Ramesh Johari on “Unbiased experiments in congested networks,” presented at the ACM Internet Measurement Conference in 2021. Their research shows that networking algorithm A/B tests can be biased because of network congestion.
